We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Technical Services Management role with a growing UK-based bioscience company specialising in crop enhancement technologies for global agriculture. This is a permanent role that will preferably be based in North Carolina, United States, but can also be based out of the mid-west or mid-south US.
PURPOSE
The Technical Services Manager will develop and direct the technical communication plan with all technical individuals at universities, extension service, distribution, ag chemical, and seed manufacturers, and crop consultants involved in developing or making recommendations on crop inputs. In addition to the core role responsibility for Field Technical Services, the role will serve as a key liaison to the Group’s core R&D Discovery process, providing insights from grower practices and crop observations which could serve as leads for the investigation of new biochemical pathways and the screening of new bio-stimulating chemistries.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- The US Technical Services Manager will work with the regional technical manager, commercial director, and marketing manager to identify training gaps and develop plans to fulfil those needs for the channel, growers, and other parties that conduct research or make recommendations to growers in the crop industry.
- This individual will facilitate the interaction with technical teams at commercial partners and the Group’s technical development and R&D teams in order to ensure trade partners’ personnel accurately and thoroughly implement testing protocols.
- The role will also be responsible for representing the Company in industry technical meetings and presenting technical features and data to represent the benefits of Company products
- The role will also assist marketing, agencies and others in developing, reviewing, and implementing technical information in the company’s advertising, PR, and communication plan.
- The role will be the Company ambassador and identified as the subject matter expert on crop enhancement technologies and the resulting benefits of use by growers.
- The role will actively liaise with growers and commercial partner technical managers to gather insights into the key agronomic and crop stress challenges faced by the group’s target crops and synthesise these insights into leads for scientific inquiry via contributions to the Group’s R&D discovery process.
EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Masters of Science or higher in an agricultural/biological science.
- Demonstrably high level knowledge of ag chemical, seed and crop physiology is essential.
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role.
- Significant professional experience
- Knowledge of soybean, wheat, and corn agronomy and physiology is highly desirable.
- Successful background in ag research and professional recognition is highly desirable
- Commercial experience in the crop enhancement, crop protection, breeding, or fertiliser sectors is highly desirable
- Previous experience in a university or consulting role is highly desirable
- Excellent organisational and project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ownership of problems through to completion.
- Sense of urgency with ability to prioritise.
- Strong team-worker across functions, cultures & geographies.
